Safe Sun

women hiking You've heard it from a million different sources: sun exposure is bad. It can help to age your skin prematurely and cause skin cancer. To save your skin you don't have to become a vampire! A few simple steps can help you avoid sun damage and actually enjoy your life.

You already know step #1, but we'll say it again: wear sunscreen every day. Look for the term "broad spectrum" and an SPF of 15 or above. This ensures that your sunscreen blocks both UVA and UVB rays, which both contribute to aging and skin cancer.

Step #2: applying the sunscreen. Unlike your Relastin product, do not apply sunscreen to moist skin. Water reduces the potency of sunscreen, so wait until your skin is completely dry and the Relastin product has been absorbed. Cover your face, neck, the tops of your ears, and any other exposed skin. Wait 15-20 minutes until you go outside—it takes this long for the product to absorb and become effective.

Easy tip: if you wear foundation every day, pick a powder or liquid that contains sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or above. You can apply this directly over your Relastin product. You'll stay safe, and avoid an unnecessary step!
